I have to say out of the four books this one became a bit much!First Race and Red are being attacked and then next the captives are gone. Then we find out whose to blame and another attack mean while during all the attacks they are constantly going at it even after they come to their peak they still continue to go at it.I don't care how much stamina Race or Red have there is NO way a human can last with they amount of on goings these two have unless your using a stub stance line Viagra or something. It just became too unrealistic and to which ruined the series for me. And thus the reason for the 3 1/2 stars.I do love Ella's writing and her style of mystery.
I mostly loved this story and would have given it five stars had it not been for two scenes that just didn't do I for me. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a book with off the chart steamy sex but still having an intriguing storyline.Sara is an out of work newspaper writer who contacts her grandmother, whom she has never met, in hopes of establishing a relationship. She gets an invitation to come to the isolated island that was her grandmother's home, but it is a very sexy man who meets her and ferries her there. Soon their lives become tangled in more ways than one.
This book truly had so much potential. I loved the plot, not a typical "know whats gonna happen in the end" book. One of my all time biggest pet peeves when reading a book is missing words like, a, an, and, the. I hate to have to stop and rearrange the sentence so that it makes sense. Also spelling words wrong so it completely changes the content of the sentence. This is why authors have BETA readers and editors. It is the BETA readers job to make sure sentences flow, not just to read the book and gush over how great it is.***SPOILER ALERT***With that being said, it is also the BETA readers/editors job to make sure things scenes make sense and fit. Example: at 53% he scoops her up and puts her on the bed where he then ties her ankles and wrists to the bed with silky ties. The next paragraph he pulls her shirt and shorts off. Wait wasn't she just tied to the bed? OK moving on, next paragraph he is tying the darned silky ties again. A page later, she is reaching down to touch herself. Wait, again, aren't her hands tied? She then gets flipped over where he gives her what she wants, then she's sitting up taking him in her mouth. Is she still tied? Who knows, he never unties her.Another example. 55% she wakes up and can't move her arms and legs because she is bound to the bed but at 59% as Race is thinking back to the 55% part she is sleeping on her side with both arms tucked around her apparently bound to the bed and her feet are bound as well. Wait, how can you be bound to the 4 corner posts but sleeping on your side with your arms tucked around you. This book is riddled with these errors. I have loved reading books by Ms. James. I don't say these things to be rude, I know how much time and personal attention an author puts into her creations. That being said. Please re-read, have neighbors, friends, new BETA readers go over it with a fine tooth comb. This book truly would have been a 5 star from me with just a little editing.
I gave this book 3 stars because I felt like it wasn't proof read before going to print. There were server all times I realized that I didn't have certain information that would have been helpful to the story. There were some typos that had me re-reading the sentence to figure it out. Other that a few details and spelling problems the story was pretty good
I tried this book because of other reviews I saw. I'm not a fan when an author splits what could be 1 book into multiple "stories" so I'm glad I waited to get this full set.I loved the hot sex scenes and dirty talk and I was surprised at how the story ended.Great read that kept me intrigued all the way through!
From the author's facebook page, I understand that this bundle is a limited time offer. It saves $2 from buying the installments separately, and if you're like me, you'd rather have it all in one place anyway.I've been a fan of Ella James' work since her first Amazon release, Selling Scarlet (the Love, Inc. series). It was a happy accident to discover it and I've been snapping up books ever since. She writes predominantly adult novels and series, though she does have a couple of YA novel series as well. Red & Wolfe is most definitely an ADULT series. I generally don't do plot synopsis in my reviews, because that's what blurbs are for, but I'll try to give you an idea of what makes this book worth buying, in my mind, and also the things that you should know before you buy. It's meant to be a riff of Little Red Riding Hood, but you'll quickly see that James goes in directions you'd never imagine. When I first read these in installments, the cliffhangers were agonizing. Happily, that isn't a problem when they're all together. It's erotic, oh yes. And if you're one of those people who is uncomfortable with or offended by reading about non-vanilla proclivities, this would not be a good choice for you. The language is frank and graphic and it does deal with D/s sexuality. It's also a thriller/suspense, with a murder mystery playing in the not-quite-background.The thing that makes Red & Wolfe special, in my mind, is the clarity of the voices. Especially of "Red" aka Sarah. We meet her as she is suffering through both the aftermath of a breakup and the loss of a job that she loved. She is broke, alone and panicked. And you can FEEL it. And when Wolfe is introduced, and we start getting to know him, it's easy to find empathy for him, even when he's being, as Red puts it, "a maniupulative @sshole". Because under his big, bad exterior is a man who is ruined for normal human interactions by his grief and enraged by the injustice perpetrated against someone he loved. This *does* have a HEA, but it's a rocky road to get there. The story gets dark, just like Little Red Riding Hood's path, and it's twisty and turny. If you like that sort of thing, then this book is DEFINITELY your thing.
