This is a book that is about Mac OS X programming. Its easy to forget its title and expect that it would be advanced Cocoa programming but that is not the intent and therefore not what it delivers. What it does do is provide a lot of details regarding programming OS X apps and various aspects of the system that you don't find elsewhere. The primary aspect of this book that I liked was the fact it filled in many little gaps that I definitely needed filling. I definitely recommend this book for those who want to fill in those gaps like I did.

A must have for any serious MAC OS developer. Written in 2005, some of the content in this book is dated, mostly those chapters related to Frameworks and performance tools. However the book mostly focuses on the internals of MAC OS which is a mature unix platform that hardly ever changes over the years. Therefore most of the content in this book is still very much relevant to current MAC OS.

Amazing value with good delivery was new and I can't wait to read it.

If you want to know about the finer details of Mac OS X Programming, this is the book to get. This is, by far, the most detailed book on the subject available on the market. The author does an excellent job of covering all of the most pertinent topics to the nth level. If you want to be a hardcore Mac OS X programmer, get and read this book!!

Don't expect to learn to code from this book, but once you know how this book will help you solve any problems that you run across.I don't think that I'll ever read it cover-to-cover, but I know that it will always be in my library.

When I first received this book, I was intimidated by the advanced topics in the table of contents and also the format of the book. It looked painfully dry and highly complicated, but as I started reading the book, I realized it is very reader-friendly. This books very well describes the unix tools for version control, testing, and development. There is a very useful chapter on subversion which gives enough introduction to get things rolling. It also provides topics on os X technologies that you won't find in other books such as Bonjour, Multi-Processing, and Keychain management. I think it is an essential complement to any Cocoa development book.Advanced topics are described with a very easy language and I was able to read almost half of the book in a few days, and trust me, I'm a slow reader. I recommend this book to all Mac OS X programmers and Cocoa Aficionados.

This book is full of excellent information which is hard to find anywhere else, but it is also unbelievably full of typos. As I'm reading, I come across at least one or two mistakes per page! You'd think they could have taken the time to proofread it, especially considering that this is the second edition.

This book fills in most gaps you might encounter while learning about the low-level BSD/Mach aspect of Mac OS X and Darwin. Mach and BSD iokit is described in detail, and there are tons of useful code examples all over the book. This book even explains ipc and pipes very well, and isn't the size of the bible, like other books. It gets to the point as soon as you get past the TOC.

This is a great book on Chocolate desserts.If you follow the instructions correctly you will produce desserts that are delicious, sweet, complex, and beautiful. That is what Pierre Herme is known for and that is what anyone who buy this book should strive for. This book is for the baker that will dedicate time to baking different puff pastries, prepare pastry creams, make chocolate shavings or chocolate leaves required in the assembly of the final product. This book is for that baker with a eye for detail , that baker that is willing to put in the time to create a delicious and beautiful dessert. The baker who buys any of Pierre Herme books has to be willing to spend money on some quality ingredients. I can tell you from experience inferior ingredients gives you a inferior tasting dessert. I read another review on Pierre Herme, in which the writer stated that Pierre Herme books are for professional pastry chefs with a good background of different techniques. I can understand his point of view, but it depends on which of Pierre Herme book your talking about. This book Chocolate desserts, and Desserts can be used by a home baker like me. Recipes from La Patisserie De Pierre Herme is more difficult if you have not read and mastered the basic recipes and techniques of his first book Desserts By Pierre Herme. I consider myself a experience home baker and have in the past experimented with making different pastry creams, puff pastries, ice creams, and creme brulee. These are some of the basic recipes required to be used in Pierre Herme books and if you are like me you will do just fine. Remember patience in following the instructions in creating a delicious dessert, patience in making a beautiful dessert, and patience in gathering high quality ingredients will make you successful in using Pierre Herme books.

THIS BOOK IS WHAT CHOCOLATE DREAMS ARE MADE OF. The photos and the paper quality is superb! The recipes are challenging and inspirational. I love this book and I haven't made a thing from it. There are too many steps and I am more of a cook than a baker or chocolatier. However, this comes as close to a chocolate bible as one needs. It is sumptuously beautiful and it certainly gets one salivating for chocolate. The recipe steps are clear and precise. And a reader can most definitely trust Dorie Greenspan's books. They are always a delight! Monsieur Herme is the Pope of chocolate dreams. This book is worth a buy! (even if you take it to your baker to make a request to follow the recipe) ;) YUM!

The pictures are beautiful (though not everything is photographed), and the recipes are well explained, Most importantly, all of the recipes work (Pierre's recipes always work). The binding on this book is very strong, so you can actually use it as a cookbook.One of the other reviewers said this book was for "novices", I see the point, but do not agree. I think this book is a little harder than "Desserts by Pierre Herme". For instance, it it asks for passion fruit pulp in one recipe ("desserts" asks for passion fruit juice, which is easier to get), some of the recipes assume you have an icecream maker, and I know of no amateur who makes St. Honore cakes. "Desserts by Pierre Herme" is organized with building blocks first, recipes second, "chocolate desserts" is the other way around. To me this assumes you know the recipes and just need to check the back for reference. ON the other hand, this book is definitely easier than his other book "The patisserie of Pierre Herme" (which also has building blocks at the end). That book assumes you have nut paste (which you can make as an amateur, but a pain), are willing to make Joconde cakes to wrap your cake around, can make chocolate ruffles, and so on. If you're a professional, that's the book you want.This book definitely gets 5 stars, but keep in mind who you are first. If you are total beginner, there are some easy recipes here but some things will be too hard. IN this case I think "cocolat" by Alice Medrich is a good, easier alternative, or even "desserts by Pierre Herme" (that book has less chocolate though). I think a intermediate-advanced amateur will get the most out of this book. If you're a pro, you won't learn new techniques. A pro would get this book if he was a fan of Pierre and wanted to see Pierre's thinking and the original way he puts together components (for instance his use of cinnamon in general, or pears in St. Honore cake).

Ana Levy-Lyons is an observant Jew who is senior minister of First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn, a quickly-growing urban Unitarian Universalist congregation, where her sermons have received numerous awards. Far from one reviewer's assessment of this book as "drivel," No Other Gods is a clearly-written, accessible, and incredibly useful antidote to a toxic age of me-ism, consumerism, and nihilism. The sophistication of Levy-Lyons' thought is to be found woven through her prose, rather than worn on her sleeves, as some writers are wont to do. The book is not some highfaluting theological monograph, filled with dropped names. Her goal is not to gain access to some ministerial/rabbinical "Mount Olympus" where she might sup with the Kings and the Heschels and the Hanhs. To the contrary, it is clear that there is only one reason that Levy-Lyons wrote this book: She sees clearly that we live in a diseased age, a spiritual wilderness in which the idols are brands and money and status, and that we must reverse the current trends that add wilderness to wilderness. This is a retail book, written for real people, filled with earnest warnings and loving care. It is a loving, pastoral work. It should be read by as many people as can stand face to face with a very earnest diagnosis of our present age, and perhaps of their own lives. For if we don't change, if we don't leave off our worship of "idols," if we continue on our path of "me-ism" and unchecked consumption, our time on this amazing Earth may be more limited than we may think. That is, of course, the grand and sweeping worry. No Other Gods also concerns the wrong turns that we make in our personal lives, winding up in ditches or shipwrecked in our marriages, in our friendships, and in our relationships with our selves. This is an important book for believers and non-believers alike. It is scripture for our age, belonging alongside the best classic spiritual appeals of the past hundred years.

If you had told me a few years ago that I would read and love a book about the 10 Commandments–and seriously consider starting to keep a Sabbath–I would have thought you were crazy. But Rev. Ana Levy-Lyons makes Biblical stories and principles feel alive and relevant, even if you don’t consider yourself religious. In this book, the 10 commandments become a radical manifesto for making your life more meaningful, more joyful, and less beholden to our destructive capitalist culture. Her message about the 10 Commandments is not only progressive and countercultural, it is the most revolutionary (and spiritually nourishing) thing I’ve read in my adult life. Just as she describes the Israelites when they received the 10 Commandments, I was so overwhelmed reading this, I flew back twelve miles. It restored my faith in humanity, in Reality, in myself. As I read this gem, Ana Levy-Lyons not only explained my life to me, she took religion (the weapon that was used to destroy my relationships, my identity, my life) and somehow transformed it into something that could heal me. It is a must read not only for every person of faith, but for anyone looking for deeper more meaningful connections and mindful living.

This book offers a fresh look at how the 10 commandments can be used to relate the imspired religious teachings of the Bible to the politics of our present day. In a very real way, the book takes the Bible back from it's wrong use by some right-wing politicians and fundamentalist religions. It is a livley, positive discussion on almost all the political and social issues of the day and offers practical wisdom on what each of us can do to turn the tide on some of those issues that are out of control like climate change. This is a very rich book, well worth reading.

I just finished No Other Gods, and what a read it was! It pushed me deeply into thinking and feeling about who I am and how I should live by teaching me about the contemporary wisdom of the Ten Commandments. Ana Levy-Lyons deconstructs each of them with a variety of both personal and societal interesting stories and observations. I am unbelievably deeply thankful. Truth be told, it was the deepest book I’ve read in years.

I am close to a vegan, but rather a Whole Foods Plant Based nutritionist with no added SOS; meaning not processed food, vegans eat organic junk food.Now, if you scan the table of contents just in the breakfast section, you see excessive use of cheese, eggs, and meat:Is Cheese (Dairy) apart of a Paleo Diet? Nah!Is Cheese in a Vegan's Diet? Nah!You get the picture. Regardless of the lifestyle diet you choose, the bulk of the recipies do not align with Paleo or Vegan, Notice This is an Air Fryer book so inserting the words Instant and Pot exposes this search strategy to support what I have postulated. But they should be more genuine about the positioning of this product and let it stand on those merits.If you eat a Standard American Diet (SAD) and have yet to develop the inevitable health consequences from that lifestyle, this recipe book is for you. Make no mistake about it, its a SAD Cookbook.Who wants to pay for a cookbook where well over 80% of the recipes do not target vegans? From a Vegan perspective, the book should be titled 15 Days Of Air Fryer Recipes.

There are many things that I expect from a cookbook. This one is sorely lacking. 1. There is no alphabetical index. 2. There are no pictures in the book. While they do include a link to a pdf file with all the pictures, it's just not the same thing. 3. The recipe instructions leave out steps. For instance, a recipe calls for a steak. What kind of Steak? How big? How thick? A recipe calls for beans. What Kind? Green beans? Lima beans? Garbanzo? Kidney? 4. Of the recipes we have attempted, none turned out as expected. They have all required tweaking to make textures and appearance right.

One of the worst organized cook books I have ever made the mistake of ordering!!! There is no index, recipes are not listed under type, such as "vegies" or "meats" or "deserts" or "sides" or ANYTHING! They are listed by meal (????????) (Those question marks are asking WHY) If you want to find out how to or if to cook a hamburger, you must peruse page after page of listings to find a hamburger recipe!!! The listings aren't even alphabetized!!! IT ISN'T WORTH THE EFFORT!!!! Please order a Air Fryer cook book that treats you like the organized cook that you are!

I was so excited to order this cook book since I received an Air fryer as a gift. I am currently on a Paleo based diet and am trying eat clean. SInce the title say " Paleo, Vegan, Instant Meal, Pot, Clean Eating". I thought this would be a perfect Cookbook. Boy, was I mislead. The recipes contain items like canned creamed soups and sugar and packaged dinner rolls. I don't think out of the 365 recipes, there is a single one that I would consider Paleo or even clean eating. .

I received this cookbook today & was excited to start flipping through it. However as soon as I did, disappointment set in. There are some nice recipes in it but not one picture in it to get an idea of what it should look like! On the first page inside there is a disclaimer saying you can go online & download any pictures you might want! I guess in this case you really do get what you pay for.

This is totally user unfriendly. There is no index, so if you want to make a chicken dish, you have to scroll through the whole book. The index is only in page order; no help at all. And the order is breakfast, lunch, fast snacks, dinnner, desserts. (no veggies - they are in any of the categories.Many have complained that there are no pictures; that is true, and would have been nice, but i can do without.The worst is that I don't know what the ingredients are. Example: 1 rack of pork ribs (size?), 4 minute steaks (I've never seen them in the store. Are they chuck that is cut thinly?), leftover 'veggie bake' (huh?), 1 schnitzel (I know that as a way to cook, not as a cut of meat), 9 oz. tender beef, chopped (does that mean 'ground beef' or something cubed?)This is the first time I've considered returning a book, but the shipping cost is not worth it.I've not yet tried any of the recipes. I think this may go to the library for their annual sale.And the worst is that there is a link for a pdf file, but in order to get to it, you have to have a smart phone with someway to read the scanner square (don't know what that's called). I don't have a scanner on my computer!This book is worthless.

About the Author

Tiffany is a Spiritual Psychotherapist with over sixteen years experience in Transpersonal Psychology. She completed training in Spiritual Psychotherapy at the Transformational Arts College of Spiritual and Holistic Training in Toronto where she also taught in the College’s Discovering the Total Self Program, Spiritual Psychotherapy Training Program, Spiritual Directorship Program and Esoteric Studies Program. She served as a staff psychotherapist and case supervisor. She continues to teach at the College as a guest facilitator both in their Spiritual Directorship Training Program and their Divine Connections Practitioner Training Program.An international presenter and keynote speaker, Tiffany has conducted workshops for many conferences and organizations, including the 2013 Energy Psychology Conference. She was one of the co-creators and co-organizers of Kitchener's SPARKS Symposium (2010 - 2012). Tiffany is the owner of The Hive and Grove Centre for Holistic Wellness, with a private therapy practice offering individual, couples and group therapy. She has developed two self-development programs, Patterns of Conscious Living Program and the Spiritual Language of the Divine Program, as well as a creative workshop, The Art of the Divine. I can't begin to describe how useful and inspiring this book is, not to mention beautiful. The heft and size are sublime, which sounds silly, but somehow it makes the book feel even more sacred. If I were only able to keep one book in my collection of pagan resources, this would be the one. It has everything from beginner information to advanced, creative, "on-your-own" inspiration. I absolutely love this book.

This book is a little off the wall. There are parts where I roll my eyes and think, "really?", but on the whole, I find that this is a great way to ponder my mental health, my values, my wellbeing. It offers thought provoking questions and provides some real life insight.

I've been working through this book day-by-day with the daily journal entries and weekly (or so) readings since mid-June, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. I love the daily journal prompts; they really get you thinking. I love this book so far. I wish it was hardback because of all the use it's getting...one of the covers got a little bent at the corner already. But that should not deter you from checking out this book! I love the beautiful cover, and the readings are fascinating, covering stuff in psychology to spirituality, as well as learning about yourself, self-empowerment, and getting you to really look at the way you think and view things. This book is about healing through the seasons, or through the Wheel of the Year. You can start at the beginning, or you can start wherever you are in the year. I started about halfway through the book because it's summertime now, and the book begins at Yule. I love this book and recommend it!

Well laid out, set by wheel, set by symptoms. Definitely something you do one part at a time. So far I am 1 chapter in. Thought provoking questions.

Really like how book organized for the year. Everyday there are questions to ponder. Good reference and guide for personal development.

This book makes you examine your emotions and the reasons behind them. It does it from a Pagan perspective which isn’t always easy to find. I highly recommend it!

Love this book! It is an outstanding workbook for introspection and reflection. I bought copies for my friends.

I knew John Walker when I lived in London. I was therefore glad to see John and Gary collaborating on a book that would correct many of the untruths and speculations made in the biography of Scott Walker.John and Gary take turns in narrating their story from their individual musical origins, up to the present time. Not surprisingly, their individual recollections differ slightly. But they do make specific points of correcting what they feel is incorrect in Scott's book. It's important to note that the band was originally started by John, not Scott, and that John and Scott shared the vocals equally, until it became apparent that Scott's voice was very marketable. And it was Gary who provided the impetus and financial backing for the three boys to go to England.A few photos of their families are included. Like any fan, I would have liked to see more - but they do include some classics from their early days.The book was a quick and easy read. Not exactly a literary masterpiece - hence the star deduction. But for any true Walker Brother fan, this book gives an enjoyable insight to the trio. It certainly made compelling reading.(This is a review of the hardback)

The Walker's story as told by John and Gary but their respect for Scott, even though he isn't included in the interviews, is clear so despite the rumors surrounding their breakup they clearly liked each other. They really did become brothers.

This is a really interesting book, much better than I expected which has the unusual and interesting literary device of having 2 of the members of The Walker Brothers tell their stories separately but next too each other period wise which is really interesting as Gary Walker basically doesn't understand why the original break up took place while a few pages later John Walker does and goes into detail.This book is super informative, telling a true story in detail that I don't believe was written about in full detail before. Two criticisms, one minor and the other major: Minor is that some of the details are too much info that no one needs to know like their first sexual experiences. Major is they do not talk about "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More" in any depth and detail- I would have loved to know who played the drums on all their records and what they thought about this classic.All in all a very good book.

It's terribly written, but the information is excellent. alleged "facts" are righted and the stories are priceless. This is the true inside story of one of the oddest chapters in rock history.

Great read. They were a big act in the 60's. I still listen to all their music.

Don't remember the Walker Brothers, Guess will have to check on it and possibly purchase an album.I was more into Beach Boys, Jan and Dean etc.
