Beautiful illustrations and book

The book I received is a low cost, poor quality paperback photocopy of the original. It has no actual flaps, but includes photocopied flaps that do not open. One of the photocopied flaps literally shows an image of a tear where the book they copied was torn. The title and author wrap around the spine to appear on the front cover. Clearly a case of copyright infringement.

Good book. My daughter enjoys the lift the flap style. She has others that she prefers though.

I love this book! It's so creatively written and even makes me giggle. The critters behind the flaps make it even more exciting for my nephew.

When we were buying books for our little one, we wanted a mix of interactive and "regular" ones for her to read from. The interactive aspect is why we got this book, and it's been great. We've been reading it to her everyday since she was 2-3 months, and around month 6 she started pulling open the tabs that reveal the animals herself and then giving small "ooo!" exclamations. Very cute. The interesting thing I noticed with this book and a couple other interactive ones we have is that her dexterity seemed to improve a little more rapidly once she started turning the pages and opening the tabs. I also like the story line as it is logical/reasonable without being too strange. We also go to the zoo a lot with her, so the book serves to reminder her a bit of the different animals we've seen.I would recommend this book and will continue to use it.

This is my daughter's all-time favorite book. It's been her favorite book since she turned 1 and continues to be. I'm happy that it has options for her to lift and see the characters which we follow up with the sounds the animal makes. She is had it through most of her stages of teething so the corners have been chewed however the book has held up and after reading it well over 300 times it still continues to be one of my favorites as well. I just wish that there were more books like this.

Bought "Dear Zoo" for my son when he was 9 months old and he absolutely loves flipping the flaps in this book. He and I really enjoy that the flaps go in various directions on each page (some go up, some go down, some go side to side)...it makes things interesting! After this book, my son seems bored of other lift-the-flap books that require him to flip in the same direction every time. Also, I love that the flaps on this book are so sturdy!! My son has easily ripped the flaps off of many books, but not this one. I also enjoy that I can teach my son about the different animals in this book. "Dear Zoo" is read almost daily at our home.

This story is simple and adorable. My niece loves to read it over and over again. A toddler or baby will enjoy lifting the flaps to see each animal. The reader can make animal sounds to accompany each animal to add to the amusement of the story. It is a great way to teach the animal names and sounds as well! It is short and will keep the attention of a baby or toddler. It is so adorable that parents shouldn't tire from reading it again and again. Highly recommended!

Terrible. This autobiographical vignette normalizes the exotic animal trade and perpetuates hurtful stereotypes of the animals it portrays. It suggests that a complex, feeling creature such as an elephant may simply be taken from its home, confined in a crate, and shipped to an address for the purpose of being someone's pet, then casually returned if it fails toserve as the perfect companion animal. The protagonist repeats the same process with several other animals, shaming some as too big or too tall, dismissing others as too grumpy or too fierce, and even passing moral judgement on one as being too naughty. Nonetheless, the zoo, greedily complicit in the whole fiasco, does eventually send an acceptable pet. Given the author's historically disrespectful approach to pet ownership, I'm not convinced this is an entirely happy ending.Nah, j/k. It's cute and fun and our 1-year-old frickin' loves it. It's durable, the flaps are different shapes & sizes and open in different directions, and the design isn't too busy (like the Little Red Barn, Little Blue Boat, etc. series). Five stars.

Part memoir, part existential journey, part expose on fertility treatments, Dead Babies and Seaside Towns explores the depth of love and what it takes to survive loss and still triumph.As a father and husband I lived alongside my wife through difficult pregnancies, premature births and incubators, and though I wanted to understand my wife, I don't think I fully grasped what it is for a woman to be the bearer of life. Dead Babies allowed me to connect with my wife's story.I read much of the book as love story and a ghost story at times... "Laura is close, I can here her crying. It's three days since she died...." There are such stark descriptions joined with great self reflective moments as Jolly candidly address what tone this memoir should take... "This is Laura's story and she wanted life. It would be an insult to offer her mere literature, a crime to make the ugly beautiful."

After losing my own daughter and suffering secondary infertility I felt as though I was reading my own thoughts that I couldn't find words for. A great read for anyone trying to better understand baby loss and infertility. She sugarcoats nothing, yet manages to write in an almost poetic fashion.

My beloved daughter is going through the heartbreak of two failed IVF treatments and a miscarriage so far, with more IVF to come. As a mother who had three very straightforward pregnancies and no difficulty in conceiving, it has been difficult for me to fully comprehend the depths of her distress, but this book gave me the best picture of it yet.I was swept along by Alice Jolly’s exploration of the pain of the loss of a baby and the inability to do something that most of the world regards as normal, and the isolation and alienation that confers. The roller coaster of the raising and shattering of hopes is ridden with grace. Through the medium of her own experiences, she distils a rare combination of insight into her situation and practical details of fertility treatments and their impact on those whose path to parenthood is rocky.I dare not give this to my daughter yet – she is still too much in the middle of all this and needs an outcome to her own story – but I really hope she will read it eventually. I shall certainly re-read it.

Amazing Book that I use every day as a licensed massage therapist when I have clients come in that have medications but I am unsure of! I have recommended this book to every single massage therapist student I have had come through our clinic and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like a little bit more information on any of the Contra indications that come along with medications in regards to having any sort of massage therapy or therapeutic modality performed on them

The most complete AND relevant reference for massage therapists I have seen. Keeps the answers short and applicable to massage.The only draw-back I found is that there a few more obscure pharmaceuticals not in the list, but after list its drugs by generic name it offers a list of abbreviations, glossary of terms and index to find brand names under their generic listing.Found about this from an instructor of mine, and haven't regretted the purchase since I clicked to purchase it.

He has served as CEO of a Savings and Loan, as an adjunct legal assistant teacher at a community college, a tutor for GED students, a Fellow of the American College of Probate Counsel, and an arbitrator. He has authored many articles for publications including:You and Your Estate (1988), and Your Worldly Possessions, A Complete Guide to Preserving, Passing on, and Inheriting Property (1992). In this misguided pursuit of 'victory', truths are suppressed or distorted, both juries and judges are left to render decisions on skewed evidence and arguments, and the costs are tragically born both by those individuals who are euphemistically "brought to justice" as well as by the larger society. Kubicek cites other legal scholars as well as relevant cases in the development of his argument. And he provides an alternative to the adversarial approach to litigation in the inquisitorial (one versed in philosophical discourse is tempted to use the term 'Socratic') approach represented in most of the court procedures of continental Europe. The information in this book is great. I am a novice gardener and I found the perfect book of knowledge for my new interest. That being said, the digital formatting and editing of this book is horrendous. There are entire pages that repeat themselves two and three times, and pages I can barely read because the sentences edge the pages. I have tried every setting possible, in both Kindle and Samsung settings and it's just the way the book was set.

Outstanding book. Truly helpful.One tip I found that I thought I would share here is the use of black vinyl pool bags for your greenhouse. These bags are used by swimming pool owners to weigh down their pool covers in the winter, they come in 8' and 10' lengths and they work wonderfully to absorb the heat during the day and give it off at night in a greenhouse. They usually come in two colors, blue and black. And, since they are smaller than a 55 gallon drum, they lay flat, and can be adjusted to fit around plants, they are truly great additions. Another great feature is that they heat up quickly during a winter day, whereas big drums do not. Give them a try in your greenhouse, I think you will really like them.

This is a great book for basic information on greenhouse gardening but I would have preferred more information on general bedding lay-outs and less information on using barrels of water to generate more solar heat. Since I live in the desert that information seemed fairly redundant for my needs and was quite extensively covered in the book. The materials used in the book are very affordable as are suggestions for maximizing your growing space and creating the most productive garden possible. It also covered some areas in standard outdoor gardening, but again, I was interested in the greenhouse specifics and think that a future book focusing on only greenhouse methods with more versatility for desert coverage as well would be even more beneficial. Good book in general and well written!

I am a fairly new gardener. Me and my husband are getting more into the homesteading...growing our own fruits and veggies and eventually raising our own goats, chickens and rabbits.I wasn't sure I would want to do greenhouse gardening, but after looking through all the interesting and helpful tips and instructions I think I will love greenhouse gardening much more than traditional gardening for the simple fact that I have much more flexibility in my growing season and can grow all year long.

Shane Smith gives important basic information about passive solar design and production in a winter growing space. When I first started out, four years ago, it was the one book I was flipping through daily. I grow vegetables in winter in Minnesota, so I figured a guy in Wyoming would understand my challenges of weather conditions and day length. This made his planting schedules a useful tool. I did read this one cover to cover and then referenced certain sections again and again in those first two years. If you are thinking about building a greenhouse or just got one, add this book to your library and you won't be sorry. He'll show you how to save some money by applying passive solar design elements to your structure that will save you money in heating costs and make your growing space more productive and fun. As to the comments one reviewer posted about Smith's aversion to hydroponics, I happen to concur with the author. I like working with soil. I don't care if hydroponics has gone "organic." It still creates waste water that must be dealt with and lacks the beneficial fungus interactions that soil provides for plant roots on a cellular level. At least Smith's upfront about his preference and there are plenty of resource materials out there for folks who want to work with hydroponic systems. This book is a plain and simple introduction to greenhouse growing that makes it accessible to beginners. I still flip through it from time to time and always find some tidbit I can use to improve things in my own growing space.

Excellent! Received the greenhouse for Christmas - a total surprise. I'm a beginner outdoor gardner. This easy-to-read, spiced with humorous comments, and VERY informative book has been my guide to managing my greenhouse. The book is packed with charts/tables that summarize information about sowing, planting, transplanting plants, etc. It covers vegetables and flowering plants.There are example record-keeping pages. It has straight-forward information about the greenhouse environment. I also use it as a reference for growing vegetables in our outdoor vegetable beds. There is so much information that even an experienced greenhouse gardener will pick up useful facts and tips.

This is a great reference book on building greenhouses and growing plants in the greenhouse. I am a beginner at greenhouse gardening and am finding this book invaluable, and chock full of great information, as well as references as to where to find resources for seeds, and greenhouse supplies. Hats off to the author, wonderful job!!! A must for every garden library!!!
